The Company's name comes from the initials of the founder Genzō Shimadzu, that was a pioneer in Japanese industrial history that researched and produced the first storage battery in Japan. He was acclaimed as Japan’s “Edison” and honored as one of Japan’s 10 great inventors for his various inventions and contributions to science.
